FRANZREB
WOODWORK
An authentic German Schreinerei in the Southeast, delivering fully bespoke woodwork projects through joinery-first craftsmanship.
What is a
German Schreinerei?
A Schreinerei (called a Tischlerei in northern Germany) is a specialized woodworking shop where skilled craftsmen design, build, and install custom wood products. Unlike factories that mass-produce furniture and cabinets, a Schreinerei focuses on one-of-a-kind pieces tailored to each client's needs. Typical projects include kitchens, built-in cabinetry, staircases, doors, windows, furniture, and detailed interior woodwork. German master craftsmen combine traditional hand skills with modern machinery, emphasizing precision, durability, and exceptional craftsmanship. Many Schreinereien also offer design, installation, and restoration services, allowing them to manage projects from concept to completion. In Germany, a Schreinerei is widely associated with high-quality, custom-made work that reflects centuries of woodworking tradition.

why nails aren't our first choice
Joinery-First Construction
Many cabinet shops rely on nails for assembly. We rely on precision joinery.
In woodwork nerdspeak, that means dowels, biscuits, Dominos, tongue-and-groove joints, and Lamello Clamex and Tenso connectors instead of nails. These concealed connectors create perfectly flush, exceptionally strong joints without visible fasteners, while allowing the wood to move naturally through decades of seasonal change. It takes more time, specialized equipment, and careful planning. That's simply how we were trained to build.

Always Bespoke,
Always In-House
Every project at Woodwork Franzreb is made to order. Our in-house craftsmen guide every cut, detail, and finish and, unlike many other shops, we do not pass any part of our process to another vendor or third party. We are present in your project from the first sketch to the final installation. Our approach is deeply personal, and entirely bespoke.
Beautiful even at One Centimeter Away
Beautiful even
at One Centimeter Away
Our clients say they can even touch and feel the difference in our millwork. Since every surface is hand-finished, they are exceptionally smooth, with crisp details and flawless joint transitions. Our work is just as beautiful from a centimeter away as it is across the room. It's an approach rooted in German craftsmanship.

Archival Housing for Prized Collections
Many of our clients are avid collectors and we have had the pleasure of designing and building bespoke built-ins for their collections, from beautifully lit shelves for curated artworks, firearms, and movie collection to perfectly lit book-lovers libraries with integrated ladders.
When your name is on every piece that leaves the shop, quality is not optional.
creativity starts with a custom blade
When Off the Shelf Tools Just Won't Cut It
At Woodwork Franzreb, we regularly procure custom cutting profiles that allow us to create bespoke moldings, trims, door details, and architectural millwork that simply cannot be purchased from a catalog. Custom knives give us the freedom to match existing historic millwork, reproduce discontinued profiles, or bring a designer's original vision to life with precision. The result is greater design flexibility, seamless integration with your home's character, and details that feel as though they have always belonged there.

The level of craftsmanship is many times greater than any of the other cabinets we had researched. It is absolutely worth the time and money you invest. He does not take shortcuts, period. From the precision of measuring and cutting to the wood, paint, fittings, and everything in between, it is all top notch.

I have always wanted a built-in floor-to-ceiling bookcase with a library ladder but I wasn't sure that would ever come to pass. Mathias captured my dream bookcase down to the very last detail and the result is better than I ever hoped it could be.
